Back To My Roots.

You know what I miss? Being excited to blog.

Over the past few months I have been feeling so uninspired to blog and there have been many moments where I just wanted to throw my hands up in the air and give up on blogging altogether. I couldn't exactly pinpoint what the problem was, but all I knew was that somewhere along the line, blogging had become a chore for me, not a happy place.

After lots of prayer and self reflection, I figured out what the problem was- I was not being my self anymore. What do you mean by that, Lauren? I mean that I was trying to be someone I am not; I was comparing myself to these other casual-cool-boho-minimal bloggers and I tried to mold myself into something that I am not.  When I started Simply Lauren Gray, (throwback to my wordpress.com days lol) I had my own style and I didn't really compare myself to others and I was happy then. I was me.

Somewhere along the line I lost my true, feminine, classic style and I started trying to be someone I am not. The other day whilst getting ready I said to my husband, "I miss wearing dresses." and he said "Then why don't you start wearing them again?" And it was a simple conversation like that that gave me the coming to Jesus moment that I needed. Forget the minimalistic/cool/no effort look (that some bloggers pull of wonderfully,) I am going to get back to my roots of all things feminine and classic.

In the world of blogging it is so easy to get caught up in the comparison game, trying to have what others have and trying to look like other famous bloggers, but at the end of the day we should take a step back and realize that who we are as individuals is so much better than trying to fit into a mold that is not meant for us. Being yourself is the best thing that you can be.

So from here on out I am getting back to my roots and I am going to become the Simply Lauren Gray I was when I started this whole blogging thing.

Be yourself, darling.

  2. I love this! I read the title of this and thought you were planning to dye your hair ;) I loved your style when you began and don't see too much of a difference now, so your following definitely doesn't feel that you're being inauthentic, but if you feel that way I'm super excited to see what's to come. You have my support 100% <3
